Roundup: My Favorite Nail Polishes

my favorite nail polishes

I have to admit that I've been so busy with work madness (and wedding planning, when I can squeeze it in!) that I haven't had much time for primping.  It's kind of a miracle for me to find time to shower lately, much less to dress up, style my hair, or put on make-up.  My wedding shower is this Saturday though (yay!), and I decided it would probably be a good idea to pick out a pretty dress and, you know, maybe shave my legs or something.

gold glitter nail polish
For the last couple of weeks, I've had some very pathetic looking month-old chipped nail polish on my hands, so I figured I'd start there.  I've been loving Sally Hansen Salon Effects nail polish strips lately (they last forever!), and picked out a gorgeous gold glitter to put on my nails for the bridal shower.  If you haven't tried these yet, I highly recommend them.  They're a breeze to apply, and they look just as good as a salon manicure (with longer lasting results).

Since I was already rummaging through my collection of nail polishes, I figured I'd share some of favorites with you, as seen above. Many of us don't have time to paint our nails on a regular basis, but I have to say, it's a nice + simple way to give yourself a mini-pamper session between the chaos of life from time to time.

1. Scotch Naturals non-toxic polish in Leprechaun Lynch.
2. Megan Miller, eco-friendly polish in Latte.
3. OPI polish in Need Sunglasses?
4. Deborah Lippmann glitter polish in Across the Universe.
5. Essie polish in Turquoise and Caicos.
6. Chanel polish in Peridot (Fall '11 collection, coming soon!)
(In separate photo: Sally Hansen Salon Effects in Glitz Blitz.  Finished nails source).

What are you favorite polishes these days?

  1. The color of #1 is amazing, and the bottle of #2 is to die for cute! I haven't painted my nails in years... but you make me want to start again!

  2. Ooooooo I love that new Chanel!! And the pretty glittery gold you chose to wear to your bridal shower!! I want to try those strips too!

    Jess :-)

  3. I have a couple of those nail effect strips waiting for me to stop biting my nails! Its such a bad habit especially when there are such pretty colours out there! BOO!

  4. love 'em, especially all the glitter. xxo

  5. That Megan Miller polish looks gorgeous! And I'd love to own a Chanel polish!

  6. I have never heard of these strips...I have to check this out since I can never find time to go to the salon!

  7. i have never even heard of those strips. making a run for toiletries tonight so will be buying them. yay! will show the results for sure. thanks!

  8. Oh nail polish! Yay! So I rarely paint my nails and can only tolerate it on my toes, but I have a ton of polish! LOL! My all time fav is OPI "Chapel of Love". It was the first OPI I ever used and it's still my fav. I've just recently discovered Sally Hanson's "Insta Dri" polishes and they are seriously like magic. They practically paint your nails for you. =) I love the color of that "Scotch" nail polish. I've never heard of that brand but I'll look into it.=)

  9. I love your choices. I currently have Tart Deco by Essie on my toes. I absolutely love the color. I also just recently purchased Mint Sorbet by Sally Hansen. I love the color.

  10. That #5 is also one of my favorites.

I have Essie red - I don't the code but; RED is my latest obsession.

  11. I had never heard of the Megan Miller line before. LOVE the packaging and that color reminds me a little of Essie's Sand Tropez which I just adore! These are all great colors :)

  12. I've heard of those strips and wondered if they worked. Good to know!

I had red glitter nails for a couple of days, but then I had some orders to make and they got all chippy and gross. Bummer.

  13. i've been DYING to use those polish strips, I work almost seven days a week and my nails get chipped the same day (if not the day after) I paint them! It's infuriating. Do you know how much they are, the website doesn't say?

Also, that cork top to that polish is ADORABLE. I've never seen something like that, love it!

    Thanks for sharing <3

  14. You had me at nail polish. I really want to try one of the mega-glittery Debra Lippmann polishes. And the packaging on the Megan Miller collection is so cute!

  15. The nail strips look awesome! I've never tried them.

  16. Thanks for the comments everyone! The nail strips rock. I have to admit that the metallic/glitter ones are a little harder to apply than the solids and patterns, but it's worth it when you know they'll last at least two weeks! Ainsely, they're around $8. Big savings over a manicure (and longer lasting). I usually put a clear top coat on mine after a couple of days, and they'll last 3 weeks. One drawback is that they're a lot harder to remove than regular polish. They come off with regular remover, but it takes a little effort.

  17. whoa... i was just at the store yesterday wondering which name polish to buy, but i didn't get any because i told myself that i was going to look for reviews/recommendations online. turns out that i forgot about it until i read this! thanks a lot! i will definitely keep these brands in mind ... oh and guess what? i was looking for the same color as your number 2! thanks!

  18. I blogged about my experience with Salon Effects recently too. I loved it (and I used the same color you did) but my nail beds are side wide that some of them didn't fit hahaha.

I really want a minty nail polish so I'll have to try out Turquoise and Caicos.

  19. Love the color of #1. I've always been an anything but red or pink kind of girl. Right now my finger nails are yellow and my toe nails are glitter.
