Reflections On 2011 >> My Year in Photos (Part 2)

2011: My Year in Photos

It's taken me a couple of weeks to get to part 2 of Reflections on 2011.  Part 1 of this post (which you can read right here) was written the day before we lost Bubby dog.  I guess I just haven't been ready to summarize December knowing that Bubby's passing was probably the biggest thing that happened to us last year, aside from our wedding.  Everyone has wonderful things and tragic things happen to them within any given year.  And everyone has problems.  When I post on this blog, I like to focus on the positive, especially when I'm reflecting on the past.  In truth, although losing the love of our lives was absolutely awful, there isn't anything negative I can say about Bubby aside from losing him.  We are incredibly lucky that we got to spend almost the entire year with him, especially after we were told in April that we'd have him around for a few weeks at the very most.  So I decided it was time.

For many reasons, 2011 will be one of those years that always stands at the forefront of my mind.  From getting married to saying goodbye to Leary and everything in between, it was a monumental year for me.  What about you?  Have any of you done posts or kept journals reflecting on your 2011?  What were your favorite parts of the year?

Robbie went back on the road today for the band's winter tour.  They're starting out with a couple of shows in Florida and then a music cruise.  Totally unfair, right?!  I miss him already, and the house is extra quiet as I enter into my first period of Robbie being gone (ever) without Bubby dog here to keep me company.  Right now, my solution to get through this is to turn my music up to an unreasonably loud volume.  Cross your fingers that I don't get a knock on the door from the neighbors...

  2. I've been looking forward to part 2 of this, but Im sure it was really hard to post about Decrmber and losing Bubby as being such a big part of your year. You had the biggest ups like getting married and the biggest downs like losing your boy. I think you should write a book!!! I hope you do ok with both your boys being gone. You're very Inspiring!!!

  5. Nova, it's called Jam Cruise. I actually went on the very first one. They're fun for sure, but a little too much for me ;). Gina, you are very sweet. Thank you. Brittany, I adore dogs more than anything else in the world but no more for me for a long time, if ever. It wouldn't be fair to the dog because I know we'd both subconsciously compare it to Bubby. I've have 5 dogs throughout my life, 2 in my adult life, and I loved them all but Bubby was different. He was our kid. I'm going to volunteer at a local shelter for my dog fix, but no puppies for us!

  6. Awesome photo reflection! Its inspiring me to look back at all the amazing photos from my 2011. I'm so sorry about Buddy. I lost my cat of 19 years this year and I still get sad thinking about him. Best of luck to you! I found you from the Etsy Blogging Buddies team.

  7. Your reflection post is incredible. You have such a creative eye. I'm really sorry about the loss of your Bubby. That's so hard. You're a trooper.

I did make a reflection post but my year looks relatively boring compared to the one you had! Your wedding photos are phenomenal!

  9. Wow, this post is so lovely. What a great 2011 you had, and every time I see a picture or read about the loss of Bubby on your blog my eyes well up. You can just see what a sweetheart he was.

I also got married in 2011 and did a little roundup of the year:

  11. "it was the best of times, it was the worst of times," right? maybe some friends & family will knock on your door & invite you to an impromptu party? sending hugs, smiles, dancing, & laughter.

  13. what a wonderful post. it's interesting when we reflect back on a year to see what things happened. lots of beginnings and ends in just 12 months. it doesn't seem long, yet it does at the same time. my grandma passed away in august so it's weird when that person/animal/whatever is no longer in your life. heck even break ups are the same. like anything life changing, we take it day by day. may you have a happy and health 2012 :)

  14. Although your life looks 100000x more exciting than mine ;-), I am terribly sorry about the loss of your Bubby. After i read this I went back and read all your other posts about him. What a special boy he was. I can only hope my doggy lives even close to that long or has even half as wonderful a life as him. You are in my thoughts and prayers.

  16. Great photos! I never did a round up of 2011; I probably should have though. It's good to reflect on the past year, and then try to let it go and move on into a new one. xo
