Honestly Good // Talkin' About Fast, Easy, Healthy Meals

This post is part of a social shopper marketing insight campaign with Pollinate Media Group™ and Lean Cuisine, but all my opinions are my own. #pmedia #HonestlyGood #ad http://cmp.ly/3/8vNxcO

My regular readers know by now that I'm not much of a cook.  If I could muster up the same motivation to create magical meals that I intrinsically feel when it comes to design projects, cooking would be infinitely more convenient for me.  My house chef/husband is quite talented in the kitchen, but recently we've found ourselves much busier than usual preparing for the baby's arrival on top of work and other day-to-day things - which has left a lot less time for nice, home cooked, sit-down meals.  Frozen meals are always a good option during times like these, and thankfully, there are quite a few healthy (and delicious) frozen meals out there for vegetarians like me.  For my husband, however, who loves his meat, healthy frozen meals that aren't pumped full of preservatives and artificial ingredients have been virtually nonexistent.  I've always been very health conscious, and Robbie has also adopted a healthy lifestyle this year (if you haven't yet listened to me gush about the marathon he ran a week ago, feel free to click here), so eating right is important to both of us.

Lucky for us, the folks at Lean Cuisine recently released a new line called Honestly Good that has officially solved our frozen meal dilemma.  Robbie and I picked up a few of them at Target a couple of weeks ago (out of the six varieties, he opted for the Honey Citrus Chicken, the Pineapple Black Pepper Beef, and the Roasted Red Pepper Chicken), and I have to admit, I was instantly impressed with the ingredients.  Each meal is 100% all-natural and made with wholesome ingredients like whole grains and farm-selected vegetables (and no preservatives!).  Each one also comes with a sauce you add yourself, so you can determine just how much (or little) you want to add.  Oh - and together with their farmers, Lean Cuisine is donating a portion of the vegetables grown for their Honestly Good meals to local communities.  Pretty awesome.

The real test, of course, was determining whether or not Mr. Meat Eater liked the way that the Honestly Good meals tasted.  So one especially busy night, I heated up the Roasted Red Pepper Chicken for the husband while heating one of my old standby frozen vegetarian meals.  And guess what?  He loved it.  He said that he was admittedly expecting the same cardboard-like taste that you get from a lot of traditional frozen dinners, and was pleasantly surprised to find out that it tasted fresh and full of flavor.  He ended up making the Pineapple Black Pepper Beef meal after devouring the Roasted Red Pepper Chicken, and had the Honey Citrus Chicken variety the next day for lunch.  (He says that the Pineapple Black Pepper Beef is his fave, FYI.)

This isn't a review blog.  And it's especially not a food review blog.  I'm very cautious about any products I promote here, and on the rare occasion that I do share something via a review, it's because I genuinely feel good about doing so.  The fact that these meals have such health-conscious quality ingredients, are fast and easy, and were described as "really freaking good" by my husband prompted me to share with you all.  If you're in the market for a quick frozen entree that is filled with ingredients that are ultimately just as healthy as a home cooked meal, I suggest giving these babies a try.

  1. Great to know. I always prepare our meals and on busy nights this would be the perfect solution. Plus, how great that they're actually healthy too... I'll have to see if they're available in Canada!!

  4. For a frozen meal, this actually looks pretty good! Thanks for posting the review. It's good to know these meals have no preservatives. I also like that you add the sauce yourself. =0)

  6. Good to know!! These may be a healthy alternative for my hubby during tax season, when I am not home to cook. We live dangerously close to an intersection with McDonald's, Burger King, and KFC -- NOT exactly healthy choices!
