Chia seeds have been one of the trendy 'it' health foods for several years now, and it's no wonder why. They are rich in omega-3 fatty acids, antioxidants, fiber, and minerals. They lower triglycerides and cholesterol levels while increasing HDL (the good cholesterol). They can help regulate blood sugar. They make you feel full for longer. They're just all-around awesome. I add them to smoothies, oatmeal, and bowls on the regs, but I've never actually made something from scratch where chia seeds were one of the main ingredients. The other day I decided that this needed to change, and I began to search for recipes that specifically called for the nutrient packed little suckers. And boy did I find a plethora (yep, plethora) of goodness. From puddings to breakfast bowls to crackers, there are all sorts of seriously delicious looking foods that pay tribute to this superfood. So for today's edition of 10 Great, I thought I'd share some of my favorites with you. I have #3 on the schedule for this Saturday morning's breakfast, and #8 is on the dinner menu tonight.

Are you a fan of chia seeds? Do you have any chia recipes (or great add-on ideas) I could try?

  1. Thanks for the recipes! We have been using Chia seeds in Salads and Smoothies, sometimes I add it to Yogurt and to Omelettes! I have to say we have become a fan!

  2. I want to get on board with chia seeds. I really do. But like the pearls in bubble tea, there's something about the slight slimy-ness (yes, I'm inventing words) of chia seeds that gets me every time. But I feel like maybe chia seed pancakes would be something I could be quite happy to eat. Definitely book marking that recipe!
