Let's Talk Music (+ My Family's Love of It)

Thank you Bose for sponsoring this post. While this was a sponsored opportunity from Bose all content and opinions expressed here are my own.

As my regular readers know, music is an integral part of my life. I started my eco-fashion line, which I ran for 15 years, selling my handmade clothing at music events and shows in college. After graduation, my business grew and I spent years vending at major music festivals throughout the country, where I also produced eco-fashion shows. In between those work gigs (and in the years that followed, including the present), I've attended many hundreds of concerts and fests for fun. My husband, who is also a huge music lover, has had a career in the music industry as a Stage Manager and Tour Manager for most of his adult life. Music is what brought us together (I met him many years ago at a random show in a tiny venue where we both happened to be), and it has continued to fuel our lives. When he is off the road, every morning before I go to work we put on music (we love everything from the Grateful Dead to First Aid Kit to Guns N' Roses), and the three of us (he, myself, and our little girl) dance around the living room. Listening to music as a family is one of our favorite ways to create intentional time together. And recently, we've found a way to be able to do this not only in the living room, but in the kitchen, in our bedrooms, on our back deck, at the park, and countless other places both in and out of our home - with incredible sound (which is very important to my husband!) - thanks to the Bose SoundLink Mini II.

I don't write many reviews around here, because it is incredibly important to me for Bubby and Bean to remain genuine and focused on the topics that matter to me, and I never want posts to start to feel like commercials. But there are times when I really fall in love with a product and want to share it with you guys - especially if it fits into a lifestyle to which I know most of you can relate or enjoy. Since so many of are music lovers like I am, I'm absolutely thrilled to share the pure awesomeness of the SoundLink® Mini Bluetooth speaker II with you, and to tell you why it's become the new favorite way to enjoy music for our family.

There are several things that make the SoundLink Mini II so fantastic, and in our house, we each have our own favorite qualities that we most appreciate. For my husband, the best part is the sound quality, and how rich it is coming from such a compact speaker. He is a big fan of how full and natural the sound is, and he says that its deep bass allows for a truly full range listening experience, regardless of the type of music he chooses to listen to. My favorite attributes are its portability and that fact that it can be used directly with my iPhone. It's super lightweight (I can carry it in my purse), and connects wirelessly to your smartphone, tablet or other Bluetooth device - so you can listen to your music anywhere you like. We can even put the speaker in our toddler's room and play music from our phones downstairs to help her fall asleep at nap time. I also appreciate that fact that is has voice prompts that talk you through the Bluetooth pairing (which makes it very easy). It even has a built-in speakerphone so you can take calls out loud. From a design perspective, I really appreciate how simple and elegant it is, and that it blends in beautiful no matter where I place it in our home. Oh - and did I mention that it has a rechargeable battery that plays up to 10 hours? Really you guys - this thing rocks. Whether you're a serious music lover or just appreciate the option of being able to listen to your favorite tunes anywhere you go (which stellar sound quality), I can't recommend the SoundLink® Mini Bluetooth speaker II highly enough.

Do you listen to a lot of music both at home and on the go like we do? Do any of you own the SoundLink® Mini Bluetooth speaker II, or any of Bose's other incredible products?

  1. Our good friends have one of these and it's great! They always bring it along when we go camping, and I agree the the sound quality is fantastic for such a little speaker. We're lucky in that the house that we bought has built in speakers in the ceiling throughout the entire house and even boat speakers on our roof deck. They all connect to a stereo jack so whatever we listen to plays everywhere whether it's the radio, record player, iPod, or cds. That was a HUGE selling point for me when we finally were trying to decide between two houses, but music is super important to us too. We've since decided that our next house will need to be equipped the same even if we end up having to install the speakers ourselves...haha.

  2. Bose definitely makes the best speakers. We are big into music and that's what we have too, although we don't have a mini one. Looks like a cool product.

  3. Yay for music! That mini speaker looks awesome. My boyfriend and I were just talking about how we wish we had better sound when we're in hotels and stuff when we travel.

  4. My boyfriend got one of these speakers a while ago and it's fantastic! I love blasting out tunes while working, amazing quality sound and the 10 hour charge time is perfect. Love the small size, we even took it on holiday to Spain and used it in the villa and by the pool. It seems pretty robust and we've had no problems so far.
