Winter and Holiday Style For the Little Ones

I've mentioned a couple of times already this season about how heart melting it is for me to get to watch Essley's excitement over the holidays. From clapping and shrieking at the sight of holiday decorations when we're running errands to yelling "ho ho ho!" at every image she sees of Santa Claus to studying the ornaments on our Christmas tree for a good fifteen minutes on the daily, the kid is smitten with the season. She is also starting to take an interest in fashion and is even beginning to pick out her own outfits (swoon). So when she saw the adorable garment that she's wearing in these photos - which so beautifully incorporates the holidays into a vintage inspired dress - she wanted to put it on immediately, and didn't want to take it off.

When it comes to winter and holiday clothes for the little ones, it's been more challenging for me to find pieces for Essley this time of year than in the warmer months. I've come across fancy dresses with lots of sparkles and shiny bows and brightly colored casual items adorned with holiday characters (which are certainly cute in their own right), but not a lot of more subtle, stylish items that still celebrate the season. So I was almost as excited as Essley when this Paper Wings Clothing dress from Little Skye Kids’ Boutique Clothing arrived. It's the perfect blend of cute, chic, and comfort (comfort being the most important element of toddler clothing, in my opinion), with just the right amount of holiday cheer.

I'd heard of Paper Wings Clothing and Little Skye Kids' Boutique before, but I hadn't checked them out until recently when I'd mentioned that I was looking for some stylish holiday outfits for Essley and they were suggested to me. I immediately fell in love with the artistic styling, natural aesthetic, and attention to detail. All of their photographs showed children outdoors, just being kids, which was so much more appealing to me than seeing images of kids in forced, unnatural poses. And more than anything, I became an instant fan of the beautifully curated clothing full of gorgeous draping and whimsical graphics. Something about their garments reminded me so much of the wonder of my own childhood, and I just knew Essley would love them as much as I did.

Little Skye has all sorts of holiday and winter themed pieces, but I ultimately chose the Winter Wonderland Bustle Dress for Essley.  The artwork on the front of the little girl ice skating reminds me of a vintage Christmas card, and the pretty snowflake print and hint of ruffling along the hem is both sweet and subtle. And best of all, the fabric is incredibly soft, which makes for a garment that allows her to run and play and just be a kid. When she first put the dress on, she spun around in circles (something that I used to do in my favorite dresses as a little girl), which may have brought a tear to my eye . (Pregnancy hormones are real, but it really was special.) I also love that this dress - along with all of Little Skye's other holiday items - can be dressed up or down. One day we paired the dress with white tights, black Mary Jane shoes, and a gold bow. The next day we added a denim jacket, braided head band, and moccasins. They were totally different looks with the same piece, and both looks felt festive without being over-the-top.

As you guys know, I'm very choosy about doing outfit posts (or any type of posts, really) on the blog where Essley is in the photos. But as soon as I discovered Little Skye Boutiques's lines, and then saw how much Essley adored her dress, I knew I wanted to share. And I genuinely can't wait to get Essley more of their clothes. If you have a little one and have been on the look-out for some stylish winter apparel, definitely pay them a visit. They are also a fantastic option for the little ones on your holiday list this year - from babes to tweens, and for girls or boys. And all Paper Wings for Little Skye and Blu Pony Vintage for Little Skye purchases through 12/15/2015 receive a Free Shipping and a $25 gift card valid on future purchases for every $100 spent when you use code BLGLS2015. So there's even more incentive. In addition to their lovely website, which is a must see, you can visit Little Skye Boutique FacebookLittle Skye Boutique Twitter, and Little Skye Boutique Instagram for more goodness.

What types of winter and/or clothing do you like best for kids? Do you prefer fancier or more casual pieces?
