Oh Hey, Embroidery

Bohemian-style embroidery has been big for several years now (think gypsy tops and hippie dresses). And I still love those types of clothing items, but more recently I've noticed embroidery embellishment in less expected places. I'm talking jeans to shoes to socks to bomber jackets (which is basically the last place I'd ever expect to see it). It's popping up everywhere, and I'm into it. It adds such a cool texture, especially when it's applied to items that are normally sort of flat or dull. My current clothing goal is to find a really great pair of embroidered jeans (which may just be this pair - #2 above). I'd be way into some embroidered cacti hanging on my wall too.

What about you? Are you a fan of the new, less predictable embroidery trend?

  1. I'm on board. I'm trying to think if I actually own anything embroidered, and because my taste is so simple I don't think I do. But I'd be down for a little clutch or that bathing suit!

  2. Love the fun embroidered socks! And that eyelet dress (though not embroidered).

  3. I'm sure it won't surprise you to know that embroidery isn't really my thing. I admire anyone who is actually able to embroider, mind you, but embroidered clothing just reminds me of my great-grandmother's embroidered aprons, which were passed down to me for playing house when I was little - and since you know me, I'm sure you can guess that playing house was not really my thing ;)
