My Style // Creating A Transitional Spring Outfit

Thank you Hanes for sponsoring this post. Hanes Legwear provides comfort and fashion flexibility, to help you look and feel amazing.

You've heard me go on and on about how ready I am for warm weather outfits (remember my 'Summer Dreaming' post?), but the reality is that it's still unseasonably chilly here in Chicago.  Early springtime - especially in this part of the country - can create a bit of a challenge when it comes to getting dressed.  It's too late for winter clothing, but it's still too early to be frolicking about in sundresses and sandals on a regular basis.  Thankfully, I've discovered that a happy medium can exist during these 'in between' weeks, as long as you have a few key accessories and the right legwear.

The other day, I had a casual lunch meeting and really wanted to wear this dress.  It's a lightweight denim fabric, and I bought it a few weeks ago knowing that it would be a great spring staple.  The weather was less than desirable that day, but by pairing the dress with Hanes Seasonless Tights in Black, I was able to stay comfortable and also dress up the outfit a bit.  I am a huge fan of these tights - they make the ideal transitional spring piece, provide the perfect mix of sheerness and opacity, and are made with a soft, lightweight fabric that works year round (with great control top support!).  They're also super affordable at $5.97 (all under $6!).  I'm planning to grab a couple more pairs in other colors to wear with some of the other lightweight dresses in my closet for spring.

I also wore my favorite spring bootie wedges (which I loved against the black tights!), a skinny braided belt, a leather wrap bracelet, a simple leather and silver necklace, a turquoise ring, and I carried a casual metallic-accented clutch.  Although the dress itself is meant for warmer weather, by incorporating the tights and booties, I was able to make it wearable for early spring.  Hurray!  Seriously though, I have a strong feeling I'll be wearing this outfit several more time in the upcoming weeks.

Do you have any tips for creating the perfect transitional spring outfit?  I'd love to hear them!

  1. I love tights, especially when I'm not ready to show bare legs. Good to have a transitional season staple like these!

  8. You LOOK warm! I know that sounds odd, but when you see people wearing sundresses or what have you in early Spring posts, they just look really cold, haha. You look warm n' cozy. I love this outfit. :) Hanes is amazing!!! I'm not much of a dress or skirt person, however I love tights. I think a form fitting long sleeved shirt, a cute vest, a pair of pretty shorts and some tights would be a wonderful early Spring outfit. Plus accessories, of course. They really MAKE an outfit. <3

  9. You are too cute. I haven't busted out any dresses for "spring" yet, but maybe I will today. It's supposed to rain, but oh well. :-)
