Valentine's Day is officially two weeks away!  I realize that it's one of those holidays that people either love or hate.  And I get why some don't like it.  But as I mentioned in my Valentine card post, I'm a fan myself, and always have been, regardless of my relationship status.  I used to adore covering shoe boxes with pink tissue and red heart doilies and foil stickers for grade school parties, and I still send out Valentine cards every year. I'll admit that I do have the occasional feeling sorry for myself moment on February 14th, because my husband is always on the road and we very rarely (I believe once in seven years!) get to spend the actual day together.  But then I remind myself why I like this day in the first place - it's about celebrating love, and it's a great excuse to do nice things for the people you care about.  And for those who like decorating and getting into the spirit of special occasions, it doesn't disappoint.

In terms of the 'spirit' of Valentine's Day, I think we can all agree that the ultimate symbol is the heart.  I'm admittedly not an overly sweet person in terms of style. I'm more of the neutral-colored, stripes and solids type, and I don't have a lot of heart-themed decor or clothing.  But when it comes to Valentine's Day, I'm all about the heart.  The more hearts the better.  So in honor of V-Day, I decided to round up some of my favorite heart-themed goodies that I've come across recently, as seen above.

Do you heart hearts this time of year?  Are you a Valentine's Day fan or could you do without it?

  1. Ha, I feel like I left this very same comment last year, but I am sooooo not into Valentine's Day. It just feels unnecessary to me. There are already anniversaries and birthdays for celebrating the people in our lives, and I feel like Valentine's Day is... that extra day with cupids.

  3. It's about love, that's the main thing, and same as you it's why I love Valentine's Day regardless of whether I'm in a relationship or not! I'm sure wherever your hubby is this year on V-day he'll be thinking of you:)

  5. I love Valentine's Day. It may be a bit corny, but I think it's pretty fabulous to have a holiday that's all about love, peace and hearts. :)

  6. Valentine's Day has always been one of my favorites. I love heart-shaped things all year long, so an excuse to go crazy with hearts is always great.

This year, I'm a tiny bit bitter and I am having a Parks & Rec inspired Galentine's Day Party. Still love the old V-day though. :)

  7. I love valentines day!!! I think it's really neat to have a holiday for celebrating love!! It gets a bad rap sometimes which I think is a shame! Also I love this hearts roundup so much, especially the glittery heart handmade and pins!

  8. I'm not so much into celebrating Valentine's Day, but I do like making valentines with the kiddos for their classrooms. =0) With all the academic expectations of kids in school these days, it's nice for them to be able to celebrate something fun once in awhile.
And I'm one that hearts hearts all year round, not just for one day.

  9. Holidays are rough in my household. I enjoy Valentine's day but my boyfriend doesn't care about it so it's very one-sided. He doesn't care about most holidays so it's taken a lot of work over the years to get him in the mood to celebrate certain holidays. I often get him card but I think I get more excited celebrating Valentine's Day with my girlfriends. They appreciate the attention.

  10. Cute heart earrings :) I loooove Valentines day, but if I think about it, it's much less about Valentines day and more my love for any reason to celebrate! I'm always so excited for holidays :) Hope your holiday is absolutely wonderful

  16. sometimes i'm a valentine grinch, cause i think it puts so much pressure on having another, and it makes people who are single feel bad. sometimes, i'm lovey dovey about it. so it depends on my mood.

  17. I heart hearts year-round! You know how some people just like star everything because they like stars? They just do? I am like that with hearts. I don't even always associate them with love or Valentine's day. I just like hearts! And so of course I loved this little post. : ] Such fun! If you feel the need to put together another one of these posts before Valentine's Day (or 2 or 3) there would be no protesting from this gal! ; ]
