this time, last year >> wedding inspiration

wedding inspiration

Yesterday I started thinking about how at this time one year ago, I was in the final stretches of planning Robbie's and my wedding.  Some of you may even remember that madness.  We wanted an almost completely DIY wedding.  With a date of October 1st, that gave us exactly 10 months to put it together, nearly half of which Robbie was on the road with the band - including almost all of last September, up until exactly 5 days before our wedding day.  I may have had the occasional melt down as I sat on the dining room floor surrounded by towering piles of card stock pieces and fabric scraps (usually around 3 AM), but making the decor, invitations, my dress, etc. ended up being an incredible experience, and I remembering feeling very lucky that I had this blog to share my inspirations.  It really motivated me to pull things together, and to this day I'm still grateful for those of you who not only shared suggestions and advice, but also continued to read my wedding posts in spite of any dramatic vents.  (Wedding planning is quite capable of producing anxiety attacks in even the most laid back people, as many of you know.)

Bubby and Bean was brand spanking new when I got engaged (01/01/11), and many posts in the first year of the blog were wedding focused.  This year, I've only posted anything even remotely wedding related 3 or 4 times, with the last post being all the way back in February.  Yet I still have "wedding" listed under the main "topics and features" section of this blog over there in the right sidebar.  The thing is, regardless of the fact that my own wedding is now almost a year in the past, I still love collecting inspiring wedding images on Pinterest, helping friends design their weddings, and reading about the planning of blog pals.  Weddings can be some of the most creative, visually stunning parties there are, and there is something very endearing to me about looking at images from events that often represent the most beautiful, meaningful day in a person's life.

So in tribute to the inspiring nature of weddings, combined with the one year-ish anniversary of my own final countdown, I decided to put together this little collage of some of my favorite wedding images that I've come across recently.  I hope that those of you with weddings coming up, those of you who fondly remember your own special day, and those of you who just plain like pretty, well-styled events can all share in my dorky wedding inspiration love via this little round-up.

  8. Honestly, I am probably one of the very few female Pinterest-ers who doesn't have a wedding board. But even so, I do enjoy seeing such pretty pictures as these. They are indeed very inspiring and are just beautiful photos in and of themselves. I'm glad you decided to share : ]

(And I'll save my Happys and Congratulations until October 1st ; ] )
