Last weekend, I took a little trip out to a local farm and picked out some pumpkins and gourds.  I don't care that I'm in my 30s - I always get ridiculously excited to carve pumpkins (and roast the seeds!).  Pumpkins are probably my favorite thing about this time of year.  They bring back some pretty vivid childhood memories (I swear, the smell of gutting and carving a pumpkin triggers memories like nothing else), they make for beautiful (and easy) seasonal decor, and man do they taste amazing in food.  Some of the recipes you see above I've made before; others I just can't wait to try.  Regardless, each of them features autumn's most delicious ingredient.

I've done a couple of these '10 Great...' round-up posts recently, where I've shared some of my favorite finds from around the web.  The first featured 10 great vegetarian recipes.  The second featured 10 great autumn-inspired DIY projects.  Since I've unofficially (and honestly, unintentionally) retired my 'Friday is for Favorites' series, I've decided that a new series (we'll call this one '10 Great' for lack of a more clever title) should replace it.  It's been a really long time since I've added a new series around here anyway, and I'm always bookmarking cool projects and recipes from other blogs and websites.  And sharing with you all is pretty much always a good idea.  So that's that.

What are your favorite edible pumpkin treats?

  1. Dude, nobody is ever too old for the pumpkin patch. :-)

These look wonderful. We have some homemade pumpkin bread in the freezer (courtesy of my MIL) and I have the ingredients for a pumpkin spice cake in the cupboard, I just need to get around to it.

  5. Pumpkin, beets, squash... Autumn is the best time of year to be a vegetarian, I think. Aside from asparagus season, maybe ;) Still, I'm eating practically nothing but pumpkin and squash these days, and I am loving it. I'll definitely be testing out the pumpkin mac and cheese, it looks amazing!
