Sun-spiration

I know it's only the first week in February, but man, doesn't winter seem to be dragging? We got two feet of snow in Chicago earlier this week and we're still buried. I'm so ready to be able to walk outside without putting on a coat and hat, dudes. I'm actually ready for a lot more than that, if we're being honest here. I'm ready for all the summertime stereotypes - long days, thick grass under bare feet, cold drinks, colorful flowers, fresh fruit, poolside hangs, and SUNSHINE. The sun likes to hibernate beneath a nice thick blanket of gloom in the midwest for weeks on end this time of year, and it's the thing I miss most. Sun-soaked photos like these beautiful images I'm sharing here have been getting me through and reminding me that in just a few short months, the golden days will indeed return. For those of you who are as over winter as I am, I hope they do the same for you.

  1. It's been gloomy and cold in Baltimore too. I almost wish we had snow because that would sort of justify the cold. Thanks for these sunny photos! They made me a bit happier. I have a rough time during winter because I am definitely a sunshine type of gal.

  4. I'm with you, Melissa. Mainly because this week Vancouver is getting the end of a sub-tropical storm which means a full week of gloom and pouring rain. I would give anything to see a little bit of blue sky!

  7. Ughhhh. Needed this. The sun is out today, but it's still only 10 degrees in Buffalo. I am ready for warmth and sunshine, barefeet and all of the lovely summer things!

  8. Boy was it nice to see these photo! We got about a foot of snow the same time you guys got yours. I realize we've had a really mild winter in terms of snow accumulation, but I'm SO ready for summer and long, lazy days on the river!

  9. -8 and lots of snow on the frozen prairie. We could use some of that gorgeous sunshine.

  10. These photos are a sight for sore eyes. No snow here in the NW corner of Washington state, but lots of rain and gray, dark days.

  11. Trying to channel those rays through my computer because it's bitterly cold right now. I'm not even a huge fan of summer but those flowers put a smile on my face. Stay warm, everyone!
