Hello! (Feeling Grateful)

I just thought I'd say hi today you guys. I know that sometimes the blog can feel super design-focused, and I think it's good to just stop in occasionally and say, "Hey! I'm here, behind these posts, sitting at my laptop, being a real person and stuff." I had a really crap-tastic day on Monday. Nothing truly bad happened, especially in comparison to the actual, real life horrific events going on in the world (you are in my heart, Baltimore and Nepal). There was just an accumulation of stresses that had built up without resolution for weeks and created mounting anxiety, and it finally all came crashing down. I just felt so overwhelmed and drained. It had been a long, long time since I'd had a good ugly cry, and it kind of felt good. After I let it out, I told myself to buck up and try to put things in perspective, and remember what was really important. And then, each day of the week started to feel a little better, and by yesterday, I was feeling pretty great. Today I'm good as new. It's Friday, it's the first day of one of my favorite months of the year, my husband comes home from tour Sunday for eleven whole days, and I get to hang out at the park with Essley today. I really do try to be consciously grateful for what I have, and it makes a big difference. Gratitude really is the answer.

Whatever your plans may be for today and for your weekend, I hope you're happy, healthy, and grateful too.

  1. I hate days like that. You feel kind of bad for getting upset because there's nothing TRULY wrong, not like the other situations you mentioned, but still. Stress, man. I'm glad you're back to normal! And it's supposed to be 75 tomorrow, so that will keep the awesome coming. :-)

  2. I've had those days! Sometimes it's just good to release all pent up emotions! Also, I believe that on some energetic level we're all affected by the awful things that happen across the globe. Glad you are feeling much better today, Melissa ((hugs))

  3. I secretly love these post the most, where you share your feelings and life. Those days are the worst, where stuff that has built up finally crushes you. So glad you're doing great now!

  8. Glad the no good, rotten, terrible, very bad day is over, and that you were able to enjoy a sunny day at the park with adorable little Essley. It will be nice for you guys to have 11 days of family time. I was a single parent for a number of years -- and it's REALLY tough handling all the day-to-day responsibilities solo, day after day. You've stayed amazingly strong and positive despite all the challenges.
