Moving Inspiration: Bohemian Spaces

After many years of living in our townhouse, we've decided to look for a single family house to buy later this year. This is something that we've discussed for a while because we wanted to move somewhere with a yard for Essley (our current place doesn't have one) and another bedroom (we have two now and I've been working out of Essley's room during the day, so it's a little tight). When we found out that I was pregnant again, we realized that the time had come to take the plunge. I'm not going to sugar coat it - the thought of the whole buying process (I am not a fan of numbers or the pressure of making major life decisions involving finances), and then having to pack up all of the crap we've accumulated over the years and transfer it somewhere else is epically unappealing to me, especially knowing that with how much Robbie is on the road, I'll be doing a lot of it on my own. But I told myself that I'm going to keep a positive attitude about the whole experience, which is much easier when I focus on the part of all of this that I'm actually looking forward to - designing and decorating.

Our current home is very neutral, with mostly black, white, and grey paint, furniture and decor. And although I will always love this style, I've been finding myself drawn to more boho-inspired spaces lately. For me - both in fashion and home decor - the ultimate combination is one that applies these two styles (minimalism and bohemian), and I've been finding a lot of inspiration in both. Today I thought I'd share with you guys ten eclectic spaces that I've found and fallen in love with lately, and that I'm keeping on file for when it comes time to decorate our future new home. I just love the thought of our new space with all white or pale grey walls, lots of subtle mixed pattern textiles, and, of course, borderline excessive amount of house plants. Everything about it feels comfortable and perfectly lived in without being overly cluttered.

Anyone else moving within the next year? Are you a fan of bohemian home decor?

  3. I have some of these pinned, too! My personal style tends to be a little more retro/midcentury (as you know) but I appreciate a good boho mix in the right space. I'm SO excited that you guys are house hunting. :-)

  4. I love how that bedroom (with the crate as a nightstand and the cacti on top of it) looks! Maybe it's because I've been working non stop lately, that bedrooms are on my mind... Good luck with the househunting. I thought that it would be very stressful, going househunting, but the first apartment I looked at, was the one I fell in love with :-)

  6. We'll be moving in the next six months - destination is still unknown so the adventure aspect is appealing, but the thought of sorting and packing all of our stuff, which we do our best to keep minimal but somehow never succeed is extremely unappealing. I think we'll take most of our current decor with us. When it comes to my home, I'm always attracted to all things white. But I might like to add a little marble to our new place.

  10. I'm planning on moving in the next few months. I love all of the plants and natural wood! I more prefer a mid-century modern style, but also love bohemian style.
