The month of July has been hot and humid here in Chicagoland, which while a nightmare for the frizz level of my hair, is heaven for my wardrobe. One of my best friends recently told me that my personal style belongs on a "hip surfer beach in Costa Rica," and I took that as the highest level of sartorial comment I could possibly receive - partly because I can't think of anywhere I'd rather hang out than a hip Costa Rican beach, but mainly because most of the time I look in the mirror and see a tired, disheveled mother clinging to whatever small glimmer of style she can. I love - and have always loved - lightweight, bohemian-vibed, summer-forever-and-ever clothing pieces. And in this part of the country, you have exactly three months (if you're lucky) to wear that kind of thing.

This edition of What I'm Wearing Now admittedly doesn't look all that different from last month's, mainly because I've become incredibly attached to both this dress and, while not nursing friendly in any way, this dress, and just can't stop wearing them, man. I've also been wearing the same cut-offs and boyfriend jeans as last month, although the jeans have only appeared on the few cool evenings we've had. There have been a lot of sandals and a lot of bare feet, but I have snuck in my favorite pair of heeled booties for a couple of parties.

I've mentioned before that I'm in the minority in the blogging world because fall just doesn't do it for me like summer does, and I know I'll be bumming a little next month when autumn collections arrive in all the stores. So while you may see a fall piece or two appear in my August wardrobe, I'm fairly certain next month's WIWN will look similar to this month's. I'm going to cling onto summer fashion until the bitter end, and that's a promise.

  1. I would have to agree with your friend - if I were on a hip surfer beach in Costa Rica (although to be honest, it's doubtful that I ever would be), this is exactly what I would have wanted to pack in my suitcase. Especially those Birkenstocks. I can't believe I've never seen a white pair before and they are fabulous!

  4. I always cling onto Summer too! Hehe I love the Bardot top and H&M dress here though. I guess they can always be Autumnised by a cardi and a good pair of boots.
