A Holiday Hi + Some (Big!) Life Updates

It's been a while since I've just stopped in and said hi. Today (yay Friday!) felt like the perfect time, because I feel like I can finally slow down for a few minutes and just check in with you guys. Happy holidays! For those who celebrate, you're probably on the Christmas countdown just like I am. Ten more days! As with all of you I'm sure, the holiday season has been hectic (and that's putting it mildly). This is by far my busiest season for work between the blog/social media and the Bubby and Bean Art Shop (we're still taking holiday card orders, by the way), and I've been working 60-80 hour weeks for the past month and a half. I'm incredibly grateful for this, because all of these long hours will help support my family in the new year and first few months of 2018 when things have slowed down a little. But I'd be lying if I said I wasn't feeling a little burned out.

Speaking of the new year, we finally did - we bought a house. We don't close until January 4th, and we admittedly haven't even had time to even start packing, but it's really happening. Those of you who have followed our Moving Inspiration series know that this has been a long, challenging process for us. We are so thrilled to finally be able to move into our own house and work to make it a home. And I can't wait to share pieces of that journey with you!

Other than my intense work schedule and some stressful preparations for the new house, things are really great. My stepmom was declared in remission from the ovarian cancer with which she was diagnosed in June (yay for no more surgeries or chemo!), Essley is loving school, ballet, tap, and gymnastics, Emmett is talking more everyday and really gets the holiday season this year (so fun), and despite missing out on our trip to the Dominican for Robbie's work, we've loved this month because Robbie has been off the road and we've been able to spend time together as a family every single evening. We got to visit Santa last weekend too, and as you can see, Emmett was waaaay into it. I mean, he was stoked. (Poor kid.) Next week my hours will be cut way back, and I'm really looking forward to getting some real quality time with my little ones making holiday magic. (Awwww.)

I'll be taking a short blog break around/after Christmas, but more on that later. In the meantime, we've got some great posts lined up for next week, so meet me back here on Monday! I hope you're enjoying you're holiday season as much as we are. And thank you, as always, for taking the time to stop in and read here. I just love you guys!

  1. Congratulations, Melissa! I was so excited to see the house news pop up on instagram - I've been along for this whole journey and I know how many frustrating moments there have been, but you've finally done it and I'm sure it is all going to be worth it in the end :)
