Saturday Morning Daydreams

What else could I be dreaming about this Mother's Day weekend?   There isn't much more inspiring to me in this world than my mom.  Last year, I wrote her a letter on Mother's Day, thanking her for everything she's done for me (and/or tolerated from me).  I don't usually post on Sundays, but I'm thinking tomorrow will be the perfect time to pay tribute to her again this year and share this letter with all of you.  Whether or not your find it endearing, I'm sure you'll find it amusing.  (I was a bad, bad teenager).

May these mother-inspired images - along with your own mothers, step-mothers, daughters, sons, pets, and mother figures - bring you inspiration this morning and all weekend long.

(Pssst!  You can check out past editions of Saturday Morning Daydreams right here.)

Pinterest featured my 'Definitely Pinterested' post in their Weekly Blog Round-Up yesterday!  My Pinterest crush has officially grown even larger.

  1. Happy Mother's Day to your mom. I love the first photo. The little girl in the big hat is so sweet. Then again, I'm a sucker for sweet little girls since I have one of my own.

  6. Oh my gosh, I was a bad teenager, too! I'm trying to make up for it by being an awesome mama, though.

Is that really your mommy? GORGEOUS.

  7. Beautiful daydreams! I have been thinking though about the not so flattering dreamy photos of not so perfect mothers whom we still love and see with eyes full of love.

  8. Yay, thank you for the comments everyone! I love coming to the blog and reading your responses to posts. :)

Kanelstrad, we're thinking of ALL mothers with love - "perfect," "not so perfect" or otherwise! :) I wanted to share this picture of my mom because my dad (who is a photographer) took it in the late '60s when they were very young, and it's always been very special to me. Like me, my mom LOVED daisies, and they drove out to a daisy field to take pictures for fun. He developed the print in a dark room he set up in the bathroom of their apartment, and it was passed on to me.

The other photos are ones that I happened to find lovely and inspiring this morning, which is the purpose of the Saturday Morning Daydreams series. Posting pretty pictures certainly doesn't imply that we're only sending out love to mothers who take flattering photos! This is a creative living blog, and the images I choose are usually based on photography and/or design work that I find inspiring and think would be inspiring to my readers. :)

That said, HAPPY MOTHER'S DAY! To ALL mothers, everywhere!

    xoxo,
    m

  9. Melissa, your mom is gorgeous and I absolutely adore the other airy, light photos! I guess I didn't put it correctly and left a negative impression. I appreciate your post and the sweet mood it put me in, honestly!

    Have a happy Mothers' Day!
