friday is for favorites /// holiday gold edition

Modcloth.com

Time for a brand new edition of Friday is for Favorites!  For new readers, 'Friday is for Favorites' is my weekly series where I become a rebel, and break all of my own rules of design cohesiveness to which I normally adhere on the Bubby and Bean blog.  Normally, this means no themes, trend collections, or matching aesthetics - just a random collection of things I happen to be loving on that particular Friday.

A couple of weeks ago, I posted a special Friday is for Favorites that featured a roundup of stocking stuffer ideas.  I explained in that post that due to the fact that my favorites had a common theme that week, I was actually breaking my Friday Favorites rule of breaking my regular rule of keeping collections/posts cohesive on Bubby and Bean.  Well friends, here I am doing it again, with this blatantly gold-themed collection.  But 'tis the season and all that stuff, and glittery gold is the color of the hour.  Besides, the holidays are the perfect time to indulge, get cozy, and break a few rules.  Even if in this case, posting favorites with a common theme technically cancels out the whole rule-breaking thing in the first place.

Whether you're finishing up your holiday home decor, searching for last-minute gifts, wrapping up your packages in shiny paper, or donning yourself in shimmery dresses, I hope the pretty gold goodness of my favorites this week bring a little inspiration to your Friday.

1. Hello, gorgeous!  These gold ModCloth dresses = instant movie star status at holiday parties.
2. There would be no need for a clutch this New Year's Eve if I had this faaaabulous little Kate Spade Sparkler Coin Purse.  Just in case you're listening, Santa.
3. This nail polish is called "Shake Your Groove Thing."  Enough said.
4. Person who decided to unite gold and feathers, you are my hero.
5. This seriously stunning candle holder creates cool shadows and light patterns on the wall when lit. It's so intricate, it reminds me of gold lace.
6. These cookies are sooooo fancy!  If I was even slightly good at baking I'd be whipping them up for holiday gifts.
7. Most people wear their wedding shoes once.  Not me.  I love these glittery gold shoes so much I want to snuggle up with them by the fire.  Robbie is very supportive of our relationship and totally fine with the fact that they are my date for New Year's Eve.  (photo by Bliss Studio)

I can't believe Christmas is in a little over a week!  And then one week later, New Year's Eve and my birthday (New Year's Day!) will be here, followed by a brand new year!  Usually around this time, we're preparing to head to Austin for a few days to celebrate Christmas with Robbie's family.  Sadly, we can't go this year because of poor old Bubby dog's medication schedule (it's a little difficult to find people eager to come over at 1 AM every night to give a dog his meds).  I'll also be missing Robbie's band's annual trip to Mexico next month, as well as a cruise they'll be playing the week before.  Even though Bubby is SO worth the sacrifice, I'll admit I've been feeling a little sorry for myself at the thought of hibernating under dreary Chicago winter skies while the husband is lying on white sand beaches.  I refuse, however, to let the self-pity win, so I decided to create my own little staycation.  I've spent a ridiculous amount of time working over the last few weeks, so next week, I'm going to force myself to only work half days so I can spend the extra "free time" actually enjoying the holidays.  Kari, my head employee and shipping/fulfillment manager extraordinaire over at Mountains of the Moon is heading out of town tomorrow, and we made the executive decision to close down the shipping department for a week.  That means I'll just be focusing on the blog and art shop, which also means that next week is going to be filled will all kinds of awesomeness here at Bubby and Bean.  We're talking two (yes, two!) giveaways, some really cool DIY tutorials, projects and recipes, holiday/New Year's fashion roundups, and a whole lot more.  I'm SO looking forward to taking a breather and getting to focus on celebrating the season - and maybe even catching up on sleep!

Is it just me, or was there an awful lot of writing going on in this post?  Apparently all this holiday cheer is making me a little chatty.  Regardless of whether or not you made it through all the rambling, I hope you enjoyed my favorites this week, and that today is filled with all of your favorite things as well...

P.S. If you haven't seen it yet, take a peek at yesterday's blogger holiday wish list roundup.  I asked 11 blog pals to each share one item they especially wanted for Christmas this year, and their responses were beyond awesome!
