Summertime, I Hear You Knocking

Hello Summertime! // via Bubby and Bean

I have a feeling that it's officially going to be one of those winter-into-summer years here in the Midwest (at least here in the Chicago area).  Winter painfully lingered long past its welcome, only to be replaced by dark, chilly days filled with rainy, cloud-blanketed skies.  But the past few days brought weather fit for bare legs and sandals, the kind where butterscotch sunbeams perfectly warm your skin and sudden cravings for backyard barbeques and icy margaritas sipped by swimming pools take over.  I love springtime and all of the freshness that it brings - budding trees, the first peeks of flowers, mild temperatures.  But summer is my season of choice, and if it needs to come early this year, I'll take it.

This past weekend was full of early summer moments, and in between enjoying them, I snapped a few photos (because that's what bloggers do, right?).  I spent a lot of time just "being" outside with friends, Robbie and I took several long walks, I did yoga in the sunshine, and I had a special work opportunity to design and style an outdoor dinner party themed photo shoot (more on that in a couple of weeks!).  But mainly I just reveled in the fact that I was able to be barefoot without a jacket, with the knowledge that very soon, these days will be an everyday occurrence.  I'm ready for you, summertime.

  3. love the photos. Last week it was just sunny and warm and I really enjoyed having the bright sun come in and just hanging out on my balcony. We out to eat and even hit the farmer's market over the weekend. It was very relaxing.

  8. The foodie shots are cool, but all these photos are amazing! The only thing I'm not ready for as far as summer goes - the air conditioning bill. Other than that, bring on the summer sunshine! =0)

  9. Mmmm. That salad + these photos are so lovely. Plus capture all of my favourite warm weather things. Yay summer, it really feels like it's around the corner and I couldn't be more thrilled! And I've always wanted to do yoga outdoors - sounds fantastic! :)

  10. I love that you're holding a dandelion in that first picture because even though they're technically weeks I think they are the biggest reminder of summer of all flowers!!! I love summer too and I'm ready too. :-)

  12. gorgeous photos. On my side of the world all we get is summer throughout the whole year. I miss living in the U.S, I miss Spring time when the weather is just perfect (not too warm and not too cool). On my side of the world it gets as hot as 93-95 degrees fahrenheit from 1pm-5pm and during the evening th temperature cools down anywhere between 86-90 degrees. huhuhuh

  14. Yep, I can tell we're definitely going to skip spring. Which is okay with me, too, because we have central air now, hahaha.

Also, all of your food looks delicious.

  16. Up here in the mountains we've had a few sweet spring days bracketed by thunderstorms and rain (I thought it was April that brought showers? Sigh). But man, the sunny days were sweet-- nothing beats driving home from work with the convertible's top down!

  17. Spring is such a pretty season, but there's nothing quite like summer... when the sun comes out and the temperatures rise, life just slows down to an easier pace. And practically anything is an excuse to make margaritas :) How wonderful that the season has come early for you this year, and it looks like you've been making the most of it already!
