What I'm Wearing Now: April

What I'm Wearing Now: April // Bubby and Bean
1. Foil Geometric Tank, J.Crew Factory  //  2. Elephant Kimono, F21 (no longer available, but I'd love to own this cropped version or this similarly colored piece) //  3. Floppy Hat, Target  //  4. Natural Stone Stud Earring Set in Pyrite, Free People  //  5. Amethyst Necklace (bought in Colorado in the late 90s; love this very similar piece from Rilla)  //  6. Embroidered Backpack (had since college and just rediscovered in an old box (!); this gorgeous bag from Ta Ton Yon on Etsy is almost exactly the same)  //  7. Girlfriend Jeans, H&M  //  8. Cropped Denim Jacket, Ann Taylor brand (thrifted years ago for $3; love this this almost identical version from Madewell)  //  9. Black Leggings, Target  //  10. Thunderbird II Moccasins in Grey, Minnetonka  //  11. Madison Booties, Trask

Truth be told, I almost skipped posting this month's edition of What I'm Wearing Now. This is partly because I've been on an outfit posting frenzy (I mean, two outfit posts in the same month? Mayhem!), and the whole point of these is to share what I'm wearing at the moment without relying on outfit posts. It's also partly because I felt like this month was basically a less-than-interesting blend of February (which was spent wearing cold weather outfits at home) and March (which was spent wearing warm weather outfits on vacation). Ultimately I decided to go ahead with it because (1) my outfit posts this month were technically from March anyway, so they can't really count for what I've been wearing in April, and (2) because boring/repetitive or otherwise, this is genuinely what's been on my body this month. And really, early spring fashion is practically defined by mixes of warm and cool weather pieces. So here we are. (If you're a new reader, you can read more about the motivation behind why I started this series by checking out the past editions, linked above.)

As you can see, I was forced to temporarily trade in my beloved cut-off shorts that I wore incessantly in March for leggings and jeans this month. Thankfully, it was mostly warm enough for me to mix them with tees and tanks. And yes, the denim jacket is back again this month, where it has officially replaced my winter coat for the season (hallelujah!). My feet haven't been able to enjoy the summery sandals to which I became accustomed last month in Arizona, but I haven't had to wear socks with my ankle boots, so that's a step in the right direction. And although I haven't needed my trusty winter flannels over my tees/tanks, it hasn't been quite warm enough not to layer - so kimonos have done the job.

I'm excited for next month when I'll (fingers crossed) really be able to make the transition into my warm weather wardrobe, as we welcome my very favorite time of the year. (I'm looking at you, summer!) For now, I'm continuing to layer up - but with a focus on lighter weight fabrics and even some bolder, more spring and summer themed colors and prints.

What type of clothing and accessory pieces have you been wearing most this month?

  1. We've had a temperature drop so it's back to longsleeve tees and cardigans for me, but hopefully next month will be warmer! The backpack is so cute :)

  2. Yeah, what's the deal with this chilly spring we're having? I just want to wear my dresses without tights, dammit! I really dig that kimono.

  4. It's funny - living in Vancouver, where the temperatures are mild all year round, my wardrobe hardly changes from month to month... My coats just get a little bit lighter! I think it's really fun to see the transitions in your wardrobe from month to month because there are genuine changes happening all the time. Plus, I adore that kimono!

  5. It got cold here again last week randomly and we had frost warnings several days in a row. I felt bad for all the people who'd already started planting/gardening. Luckily for me, we procrastinate on everything so our seeds are still sitting on the kitchen counter, haha. Can't wait to put away the tights and sweaters though! :)

  6. Love those trasks boots and that kimono, swoon! The weather has been super back and forth here too. I hope May is warmer, I can't wait to wear dresses without tights or leggings.

  8. Love the gray tank!
Our weather has been all over the place this month. 70s one day (yay!) then 50s the next (yuk!). But I have gotten to wear a couple short sleeves shirts and just brought a jacket with me. Bring on May...I'm ready for the sun!

  9. Love the tank and the kimono! I've never owned one of those, but I think I may need one for summer.
